Arts/Crafts and STEAM
Children 7-10 years of age will work individually, and at times in groups, to create arts/crafts projects using every day objects. Each project is designed to fit the theme and STEAM concept being highlighted.
Theme Week 1: Experimenting with Light - we will be playing with light, making art pieces that are kinetic, etc.
Theme Week 2: Creatures & Characters - we will use cardboard and clay to make small figures with opposable limbs (puppets and figurines) and we will combine all the figures into a small town at the end.
Theme Week 3: Multimedia Jewelry - We will experiment with different mediums like cloth, beads, and wire to make wearable jewelry.
This program will be led by high school students under the direct supervision of the Parks and Recreation Coordinator and will take place in the Parks and Recreation office at 221 Main Street.
We may go outside at times, so they should dress appropriately for the weather. Each day there will be a snack period. Please pack your child a tree nut-free, peanut free snack to have. Children should bring a refillable, lidded water bottle.
Classes are limited to 10 students per week and a minimum of 5 students is necessary for this class to run. Please note this class will run Monday-Thursday. There will be no class on Friday.
As with all programs, the Parks and Recreation Department reserves the right to cancel any program at any time, without cause, but especially if minimum enrollment is not met. If the Parks and Recreation cancels the program, refunds will automatically be initiated by the Parks and Recreation department to all who paid.
